Guidelines
Bending Light Magazine is looking for eye-catching, well-composed photos that are relevant to the issue's particular theme. Images can be in color or black and white, digital or film and can be any aspect ratio. Only digital submissions are accepted. Images must be in JPG format, saved at the highest quality and at least 800 pixels wide at 300 dpi.

Manipulated photos are accepted so long as you are the sole creator of every image used in the manipulation. For example, if you would like to send us a piece that has been created by merging several photographs together, you must have taken each of those photographs.

Images with borders or superimposed text (including copyright notices) will not be accepted. Previously published pieces are most welcome. Lastly, please note that a formal image license is available upon request.

Current Theme: Angst. Whether your take is serious, humorous or otherwise, the interpretation is completely up to you! The deadline for submission is February 28th, 2005.

Photography
We are eager to see your artistic interpretation of the current theme! You may only email one photograph per issue unless you are sending us a proposal for a featured article (see below). Please send images to bendinglightmag [a] gmail.com along with your name, the title of your image, and the url of your website if you have one.

* NOTE: You can submit more than one photo if and only if you are sending your submissions to us via our public group on Flickr. If one of your images is accepted we will need you to send us a larger version of the image (at least 800 pixels wide) for publication on the site. Photos submitted through the group can have borders and/or frames. If you image is accepted however, we will need a copy of it that does not have borders or frames.

Articles: For Photographers
Did you take a fantastic series of photographs on your last vacation? Do you know how to make your own camera or capture impressive macro shots? Whatever your talent, interest or motivation we want to hear about it. Articles must be relevant to the current theme and should range between 500 and 1,500 words. Accepted articles will be published on this site along with a flash based photo gallery of 5-10 images that you would like to accompany the text. Please send a 100 word query along with 3 representative images at least 800 pixels in width to bendinglightmag [a] gmail.com.

Articles: For Writers
We would also love to hear from writers. Articles in this area do not need to be accompanied by photographs or talk about photography, but they must speak to the current theme. Pieces should be between 500 and 4,000 words in length. Tone can range from historical to philosophical to anything in between. If you have something to say we want to know about it, so don't hold back, throw those ideas out there! Send a 100 word query to bendinglightmag [a] gmail.com.

In Print
We will be publishing an annual, printed edition of Bending Light Magazine, which will feature the best pieces from the previous four issues. More information on this later!

Please Note...
We're sorry, but we cannot pay contributors at this time. If your submission is chosen for publication your name, photograph and website will be added to a permanent online gallery so that visitors to Bending Light Magazine will always have the opportunity to appreciate your work.

All photos and articles retain the copyright of the contributing artist, though by submitting to Bending Light Magazine you are giving us permission to use your pieces in the magazine.

Submitting an image does not guarantee acceptance. We will email you within 2 weeks of the submission close date if your photo is accepted. Due to the high volume of submissions we have received, we unfortunately cannot respond to every query.
